How active should you be?

Both strength and aerobics exercises can help you stay healthy and fit.  The amount of exercise you do really depends on your age.

Adults 19-64

It is recommended that you engage in 30-60 minutes of moderate intensity exercise four to seven days per week.

Moderate aerobic activities:

  • Walking
  • Swimming
  • Cycling
  • Mowing the lawn
  • Tennis
  • Hiking
  • Volleyball
  • Basketball

Vigorous activities:

  • Running
  • Rugby
  • Football
  • Skipping
  • Hockey
  • Gymnastics
  • Boxing/martial arts

Muscle strengthening activities:

  • Weight lifting
  • Resistance training
  • Push-ups and sit-ups
  • Yoga
